Piemonte D.O.C. Chardonnay

Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay

A rich and elegant Chardonnay, of French inspiration, dedicated to a free and strong woman: Madame Genevieve Gavine, a beautiful actress of the 19th century. According to the historian Monferrino Idro Grignolio, she was the lover of both Baron Giuseppe Vitta, former owner of Villa Mandoletta – today our family home – and of the rival Cavalier Veglia. Genevieve disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and it is assumed that she was killed in a fit of jealousy by one of the two men. According to a local legend, her ghost still appears every January 3 on the stairs of the octagonal dome of the Mandoletta, sipping wine from a crystal glass that she then throws to the ground, causing a noise that shows her presence.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Appearance: Intense straw yellow with golden reflections

Nose: Intense and elegant aromas of spices, honey and black figs, yellow peach and hazelnuts.

Taste profile: Persistent and delicate hints of vanilla, honey, hazelnuts, yellow peach and black figs. Great drinkability and freshness, with aging potential.

Serving suggestions

Food pairings: Splendid with gourmet dishes based on both fish and meat, rich risotto and blue cheeses.

Vinification

Careful selection of the best grapes, soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation of the free run must in stainless steel at controlled temperatures up to a gradation of 7-8%. The wines complete the transformation in first and second passage French barriques. The refinement in the same wood with roulage for 12 months follows and a subsequent rest in the bottle for at least 6 months.
